To listen and read with our service, you need to have a subscription with Storytel and be logged into the Storytel app. The Storytel app can be downloaded to or is compatible with: 

• Smart phone (Android or iOS). Minimum requirement: Android 8 or iOS 16
• Tablet (Android or iOS). Minimum requirement: Android 8 or iOS 16
• Android Automotive OS
• Apple CarPlay
• Chromecast (android)
• Wear OS
• Apple Watch (watchOS)

Please note that it's not possible to download read and listen from your computer (MacBook or PC).

If you're experiencing issues when downloading the app, the operating system of your device might not meet the minimum requirements.

Please check to see if there are any available updates for your device and, if you were able to perform an update, try to download the app again.

• • • Android Automotive OS

    • If you have a vehicle that's compatible with Android Auto, you can connect your phone to your car display. If you have the Storytel app downloaded on your phone, you will be able to listen to our audiobooks directly through Android Auto.
      <br><br>
      If your version of the operative system is Android 9 or below, you'll need to first download the app Android Auto on your phone.

• • • Apple CarPlay

    • CarPlay gives you the possibility to see and control the Storytel app from the display in your car. If your car support CarPlay but you don't see Storytel among the apps on your screen, make sure your phone and your Storytel app is updated to the most recent version. 
      <br><br>
      Minimum requirements: version 23.6 of the Storytel app and iOS 15.

• • • Chromecast (Android)

    • You can cast Storytel directly to your TV through Google Chromecast. 
      <br><br>
      If you can't see the option to cast your screen, please make sure that you've updated your Storytel app and software of your phone. Please note: it's only possible to cast from android devices, not iOS. 
      <br><br>
      If the device you want to case to isn't available, please make sure that the device you wish to cast Storytel from is connected to the same WiFi that your Chromecast device is connected to. You can see and change which WiFi your Chromecast is connected to in the Google Home app.

• • • Wear OS

    • The Storytel app for Wear OS is downloaded from the Google Play Store directly on your smartwatch.
      <br><br>
      The watch syncs with your bookshelf in the Storytel mobile app. The audiobooks you have in your bookshelf will be the ones showing on the watch and you can then choose which one you want to listen to.
      <br><br>
      The minimum requirements for the Storytel app on Wear OS are smartwatches running Wear OS version 2.33 or later.
      

• • • Apple Watch

    • The Storytel app is automatically installed on your watch when you update your iOS app to version 7.1 (or later).
      <br><br>
      In your Apple Watch you can enjoy listening to stories directly from your Storytel Bookshelf. You can change the listening speed or change chapters.
      <br><br>
      The minimum requirements for the Storytel app in your Apple watch is Apple Watch Series 3 with WatchOS 7 or later.
