The Voice Switcher is a functionality which allows you to change between different voices (AI voices and human voices) and tailor your listening experience while listening to an audiobook. The AI voices are a complement to the human narrator.

How to start listening

Books with Voice Switcher enabled will have a tag (Voice Switcher) that you can search for in the app.

When you open a book in the Player that supports the Voice Switcher, you'll see a button at the bottom of the screen which you can click on to see the available narrators and choose from them.

I'm listening to a book that should have Voice Switcher but I can't change narrator. Why?

The Voice Switcher is only compatible with iOS and android devices, not with other platforms such as Sonos, WearOS (Google), watchOS (Apple), Chromecast or the Storytel Reader. Your Storytel app also needs to be at least version 23.44 on your device.

Will you add the Voice Switcher to more books and languages?

If we add the Voice Switcher to more books you will be able to find them if you search for the tag Voice Switcher. The Voice Switcher can only be added to audiobooks that Storytel produces.

We currently have no information or plans regarding if or when the Voice Switcher functionality will be available for other languages.
